WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

This list contains everything I’ve worked on, or plan to work on, no matter how much or little I’ve done. The projects that are nearing completion are marked as “translated,” “revised” or “edited.” The other projects may be six pages scribbled on notebook paper or twenty-five pages of a typed, ready-to-revise script. If you are curious about the status of any non-marked project, please feel free to contact me. I’ll be glad to let you know when I plan to give it serious attention.

Here are some definitions of terms:

Translated

This means I’ve completed a rough draft. I usually start revisions a few weeks after my initial translation.

Revised

The revisions are complete and the script is now ready to for the graphic artist to edit. If it says, “Revised. Needs editor,” then no one has volunteered to work on that project. If it says, “Revised,” someone is currently working on it.

(Revising is the most time consuming part for me because, unless a Japanese-English proofreader volunteers to help, I have to beg and plead for assistance wherever I can. Sometimes, it’s hard to find someone who can help. Or, rarely, I have more than one helper and they disagree.)

Edited

At this point, it’s almost done. The scans have been cleaned, typeset, and all I need to do is check it over for mistakes. Usually, this doesn’t take more than a day or two. So if you see something that says, “Edited,” you can usually expect it fairly soon.

(”Editing” in the scanlation world means “graphic art work.” Editing occurs in two parts; “cleaning,” which is removing the Japanese, and “typesetting,” which is replacing it with English. It is not the same thing as an “editor” in the publishing industry. I didn’t know that until I started doing this, so, in case you’re confused, too, I thought I’d explain.)

RockCJ’s avatarThe Mysterious Stories of Ghost Moon Tower has two volumes? Why did I not know this?! I thought it was just one volume. I thought I knew all her works, but no.

As an Ima fan (or rather and embarrassingly, 100% fangirl), I fail.

FAIL, I tell you.

:D

I’m always waiting patiently for your Yamagata sensei’s scanlation. Keep up with such great works! Thank you so much for always sharing your beautiful scanlation with all of us. Can never thank you enough ;)
