Can I post your scanlations in other places?
To make this more simple, please request permission first.
What I’m likely to agree to:
If you are posting in a non-public place for friends, that’s probably okay.
What I’m not likely to agree to:
If you want to post in a public place that does not require passwords or membership to read, then it’s not okay. This includes Mangafox. Please let me know immediately if you see my scanlations posted in such places. The idea is, this should be “underground” as much as possible. I will move to a locked forum if I feel there is too much attention focused on me. Please remember that I am taking a personal risk here, and I will shut down this website and go somewhere less accessible if I feel at all uncomfortable, due to other people’s actions.
It’s never okay to post under the romanized title. Please use the English title found on the web page.
Additionally, please do not add my scanlations to any “new release” or “reccomendation” list under the romanized title. Please use the English title only. This includes Baka/MangaUpdates. If a site does not allow for English titles, please do not list my releases or post my scanlations there. Also, please make sure any other information, such as the author’s name, and your spelling is correct.
Any site that requires users to pay for downloads, or sites that generate money for the uploader are off limits as well.
And, lastly, please do not redistribute the original “Waltz with a Black Cat.” Thanks.
Do you need any graphic editors or proofreaders?
Possibly.
Editors, I have strict style requirements, so please contact me for more information. I don’t normally have separate cleaners and typesetters, so you should have some idea of how to do both.
Japanese-English speakers/readers/students, I always need people to consult. So if you have time to answer a few questions, usually on the weekends, I’d be very grateful! Please contact me, as well.
Which translations currently need an editor?
Please visit the Project Status page. Anything “revised” without an expected release date probably needs your help.
If you’re interested, please download and read Style Guidelines for Editors before you decide to contact us. Thanks.
Can I translate your translation into another language?
No. I’ve finally learned my lesson (the hard way.) Sorry.
When will the next chapter come out?
*Sigh* I feel like a lot of this is getting bitchy, but, you know, live and learn. ^__^ Some people just don’t have common sense, so you have to make rules.
Anyway, that’s to say, after a couple bitter experiences, I’m going to delete any comments that ask “When is the next chapter coming out?” (although most of such comments are far less coherent. ^__^) I don’t mind people expressing their enthusiasm for a project, but please make sure you do it in an appropriate way. “I’m really looking forward to the next chapter” is fine. “Where is it? Where is it?!!!” is not. If you send demanding email or make demanding comments repeatedly (four times a day, for example) I’ll ban you from this website. Sorry, but there are limits to what I can take.
Everyone working for PD is volunteering in their spare time, so it’s hard to predict when something will be released. I let everyone (including myself) make their own deadlines since our jobs, families, school work, friends, health, etc. always take priority. And you never know when life will throw something time consuming at you.
That said, I try to check in with everyone periodically and update Project Status with estimated release dates. I will also try to let you know where we are in the process. Expected release dates are always subject to change.
Where does the name PresenceDear come from?
(Haha, people really do ask me!)
For those of you who are not old enough to remember, it’s the title of a song by the 1970/80s group Blondie, (I am always touched by your) Presence, Dear. You can find it on iTunes and we have a page about the song here.
“PresenceDear” is my Livejournal user name, and, due to circumstances beyond my control, it also became the name of this group.
Do you have a link button?
Yup. Here you go! Thank you.
