New Release: Kunieda Saika, Like As the Time Will Come When it Will Rain, Chapter Six and Extra

Happy Valentines Day!

And so we come to the end of another manga… Saika Kunieda’s Like As the Time Will Come When It Will Rain. You can download the last chapter and the extra here.

I actually translated this entire manga in about six weeks, but, as you can see, a lot more goes into producing a scanlation than mere translating. It’s weird to see my old translations again. Every one of them is associated with a certain time and, sometimes, a certain person. This one brings back the time that I first discovered Saika Kunieda, and I dropped everything to devour every one of her readily available works like a starving animal. Maybe it’s appropriate that this manga is finishing on Valentine’s Day because that period of time was very much like the initial stage of falling in love; that time when everything about another person just seems unbelievably fascinating and perfect. Strangely, I’m still madly in love with her work… just a little more comfortable, if that makes sense.

The last chapter, “Single Futon,” is a little confusing because the one of the characters is named “You.” This is easily confused with the pronoun “you.” So you may need to take a little extra care reading. They sound different, spoken, but that distinction is unfortunately lost on paper. Sorry.

The extra, “The Curse,” is a sequel to the oneshot “Summertime.” If you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend that you do. You don’t really need any background to understand the extra. It’s just a good story. It’s been scanlated in English already.

Thank you, Txilar!

I’ll upload a complete manga version soon. Just not tonight. ^__^

Saika Kunieda never fails. I love how she portrays the emotions through her work. Lovely stories <3

phat008’s avatarHappy Valentine’s day to you too! Thank you for completing this wonderful manga series, it’s interesting/unique in terms of storyline. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to Saika Kunieda sensei’s series! ^__^

S.’s avatarOh my gosh, I had NO IDEA that “Summertime Memory” had a sequel. It is quite possibly my all-time favorite oneshot. But damn, Saika Kunieda knows how to angst like no other. I wasn’t expecting a happy conclusion with a title like “Curse,” but I think I prefer the softer sadness of “Summertime Memory” rather than the harshness of this sequel. Granted, I guess this is the only way it could have ended.

Aside from that, thanks so much for sharing Kunieda’s work with us. She continues to be one my favorites, even though her stories make my heart ache so…

Thank you very much, I like this mangaka and your work ^^

Awesome!
I was wondering if you’d have something up for v-day. ^^

Not only that but once I get the credits the second part of Lets Tie Hands will be finished and sent for Qcing.

So I’m glad something got out lol.
After all my Vday…was a bit odd. XD

Suz’s avatarHi,thank you so much for another great project!
If I may only make a suggestion, the name “You” can also be spelled as “Yuu”.
It’s correct and non-confusing :)

suez’s avatarthank you so much for the release and have a wonderful day :)

presencedear’s avatarHm, I’m not sure about that. “Yuu” and “You” are pronounced differently. I considered using “Yoh,” but I’m a stickler for consistency. I want to Romanize names the same way throughout the entire manga.

Suz’s avatar“Yoh” would be going a bit far.
Anyway, I just finished reading the story, and it’s fantastic .
