New Release: Kusama Sakae, “The Constellation Shine in the Sky”

Hello everyone,

I have a few things to talk about today. First, we have a new release! This is a oneshot and an extra from Sakae Kusama called “The Constellation Shine in the Sky” and “Friday Next Week.” If you want to skip my rambling, you can go here and download it right away. Enjoy!

The title sounds a little awkward, but that’s what was printed on the cover of the book. Similar to Like as the Time… I’ve decided to retain the author’s (or publisher’s) English title, even when I wouldn’t translate it that way myself. This one, I would have called something like, “The Constellation of My Dreams.” Maybe.

I urge you all to read the notes page. Kusama-sensei’s stories ask you to “read between the lines” a little, so I’ve provided some notes from my internet research to help out.

I will return to this manga a little later in the year (I’ve already started the second story), as well as Carnivorous Animal’s Table Manners (I’ve already translated three chapters, in addition to the title story, which is already scanlated) but I want to finish up some of my older projects, such as Like as the Time…, Three Quarters, and Mouse first.

Speaking of Mouse, the second thing I want to talk about is the “sixth chapter” of Mouse, “Melancholy Butterfly,” which I think some of you have seen. People have been asking me if I’m going to translate it. Instead of answering everyone individually, I’ll just post my answer here.

I am willing to do it, but I need to find better scans. If anyone has the magazine and would be willing to take out those pages and scan them, please let me know. I’m going to see if I can still buy a copy, but, at this late date, I’m not sure I can.

So, the short answer is, it depends… Sorry that’s vague. I’ll let you know as soon as I know something more concrete.

And, last but not least, thanks to everyone who worked hard on the Constellation project. We have a new editor and this was her very first project, so please tell her thank you. She did a fantastic job! And thanks also to Cat for taking time out of your busy schedule for us. ^__^
